As Cogent DataHub continues to evolve, version 11.04 delivers a focused set of enhancements that build on the powerful foundation introduced with the V11 major release. This update prioritizes performance, reliability, and expanded cloud readiness, ensuring DataHub remains a trusted platform for moving industrial data efficiently and securely.

This blog highlights the key improvements in DataHub v11.04 and explains why upgrading can bring immediate value to your operations.

Why These Improvements Matter

DataHub v11.04 is designed for users who depend on fast historian writes, dependable connectivity, and secure data movement across on-premises and cloud environments. Enhancements in this release improve startup times, increase throughput, strengthen security, and refine usability, especially for historian, OPC, MQTT, and cloud integrations.

Upgrading to v11.04 ensures continued support while delivering a smoother, more responsive DataHub experience. Active Support and Maintenance Agreement are eligible for a free upgrade to V11. See "License Owners Upgrade" tab on the DataHub downloads page.

Major Performance Improvements for AVEVA PI Historian Connections

One of the most impactful updates in DataHub v11.04 is the continued enhancement of the AVEVA PI External Historian feature.

New capabilities include:

  • OMF support designed for efficient, high-volume data transfer
  • New configuration options for buffer mode and write mode adding flexibility to tune behavior for your environment
  • Faster startup connections by batching point discovery requests
  • Ability to ignore non-existing points or automatically create them
  • Support for multi-threaded data transmission

These improvements are especially valuable for high-volume systems, reducing connection time and improving overall data throughput to AVEVA PI.

Expanded Cloud and Messaging Capabilities

For MQTT users, there’s a practical improvement that helps when timestamps matter. This update adds an MQTT option to force updates when only the timestamp changes. That’s valuable if downstream systems treat timestamp changes as meaningful.

In addition, enhancements have been added to the DataHub service for Microsoft Azure, improving reliability and flexibility when moving data to cloud platforms and event-driven systems. These updates help ensure consistent data delivery and better alignment with modern IIoT and cloud-based architectures.

Improved Usability, Reliability and Security Across the Platform

DataHub v11.04 delivers refinements across core tools and interfaces that improve day-to-day usability, long-term reliability, and system security. OPC options have been enhanced to improve stability and correctness, while updates to Remote Config make configuration tasks more predictable and resilient. The WebView HMI experience continues to mature, with improvements that enhance responsiveness and make it easier to manage and visualize real-time data.

Security also remains a key focus in this release. DataHub v11.04 updates OpenSSL to version 3.5.4, adding support for post-quantum cryptography. This helps future-proof DataHub deployments and strengthens protection for systems exchanging data across networks, cloud platforms, and remote sites.

Together, these improvements work both visibly and behind the scenes to ensure DataHub remains a secure, stable, and reliable platform for industrial data integration.
