With the release of Cogent DataHub Version 8, we have had a lot of interest in OPC UA connectivity. The following short video blog demonstrates step-by-step just how easy it is to make an OPC UA connection between two DataHub nodes while also demonstrating how to manage security certificates in DataHub when making OPC UA connections.
In this video you will learn how to establish both secure and insecure connections using OPC UA between two DataHub nodes. In this example, we connect locally to an OPC DA server and convert that data to OPC UA, which is then read by a second DataHub acting as the OPC UA client.
Just to summarize, in this video, I've shown you:
- How to establish an insecure connection using OPC UA between two DataHub nodes.
- Two methods for creating a secure connection.
- Via manually accepting certificates
- Via configuring DataHub to automatically accept any certificate (then removing this security vulnerability once everything was configured and working)
